- Hello Joshua, glad that you had the time to talk with me this week. Thanks again.
- Tell me a little about yourself?
I was born and raised in The Bronx. I knew I wanted to be an actor all of my life...After learning that Al Pacino went to the High School of Performing Arts I decided that's where I wanted to go...and was lucky enough to get in. My career started with a co-starring role on an NBC sitcom opposite Corey Haim called "Roomies"...since then I have done numerous films, Off-Broadway plays and a year on an ABC Soap...I am now working strictly on Independent films.
- What made you wish to become a writer/actor and which do you prefer more, acting, writing or both?
I started writing when I realized that if I couldn't get work as an actor I would create my own! I stared with plays and then progressed to films. I have found that I actually love being a writer/producer...It's a different satisfaction from being in front of the camera but I will always be first and foremost an actor.
- When did Savage Rose Films begin?
Savage Roses Productions began when Los Angeles film Director James Tucker was looking for a character driven script he could turn into a film...I sent a play I did and together we recreated it into a very low-budget indie film called "Locas 4 Life". It did very well at film festivals across the country. Since we have made a total of 4 films including the comedy "Baby Fat" that won awards for best Feature and best screenplay in the 2005 Big Apple Film Festival.
- Regarding the film "Aunt Rose" which I'm told is scheduled to be released nationwide by Anchor Bay on September 12th, 2006. Could you tell me a little bit about the film?
"Aunt Rose", will be released by Anchor Bay in stores across the country on September 12th of this year! We are very excited as it is our first horror feature. Basically it is a story of Evil vs. Evil...3 ruthless criminals make a terrible choice when the terrorize the family of a Witch! As wicked as these viscous criminals are they are no match for an old lady with powers of the Supernatural.
- Tell me about your role as Butternut in Blood Shed?
"The Blood Shed" was one of the greatest acting jobs I have ever worked on...not only did I love the script but it had the best cast & crew!!! Not to mention it finally allowed me to act under the direction of Alan Rowe Kelly! I think Alan is not only one of the nicest people in the business, but I think he is a creative genius!! Butternut was so fun to play I can't even tell you...because I was able to do just that, play! I can't tell you how handy all my years of acting training was when I was trying to become the redneck, psychotic, filthy, retarded, animalistic, brutal child that Butternut was! "The BloodShed" will be a true, true cult classic!
- Your next project is a horror film called "Love Story", what will that be based on?
I am thrilled to be starting work on my next film..."Eat Your Heart Out is the title and it is a horror film and a love story combined...and a Zombie Love story at that. It stars Melissa Bacelar, myself and has a fantastic cameo from Alan Rowe Kelly as well!! It is the story of a desperately lonely man that finds the woman he has dreamed of all his life, only to realize she is not what she appears to be...that’s the boring summary...you could also say it's a sick & twisted movie about a Zombie Prostitute that is tearing apart the men of New York City...but then you miss the love story aspect!
- I have to ask this, I see that you played a role in "Law and Order" on the episode "Brother's Keeper" What was it like to play a role in that show?
Law & Order was ...interesting...I played a cop...big surprise...and it was 20 below that night...so all I remember about it was that I was absolutely freezing!
